 Coumadin Clinic

Our Coumadin Clinic has been established to educate, monitor and manage patients who

require anticoagulation treatment with Coumadin.  By utilizing the latest technology we

can obtain "instant" protime results without venipuncture (see how fast your blood clots) and adjust medication

doses as required. Because each patient responds differently to Coumadin and because the body must have the

ability to form blood clots when necessary, close monitoring of Coumadin levels is necessary.

The clinic is staffed by nursing professionals who educate patients on the actions and

side effects of the medication as well as drug and dietary interactions.

Dosing schedules are discussed in detail at each visit.

Background

Coumadin (Warfarin) is prescribed to reduce or prevent blood clots and is

prescribed to some patients after a heart attack, valve replacement or other uses

as deemed necessary by your physician.  For further information on this medication,

please contact your physician or access the National Institute of Health.
